Filtrate tracer

A chemical compound added to drilling fluid that can be detected in the formation fluid or produced hydrocarbons. It is used to identify the source of water production, distinguishing between formation water and drilling fluid filtrate. Common tracers include specific ions, fluorescent dyes, or radioactive isotopes.
