Bead tracer
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000303
An isotope tracer carried in a small bead whose density matches that of the flowing fluid, so the bead travels with the fluid. A gamma ray detector follows the beads along the wellbore, which gives fluid flow rates and shows where fluid enters or leaves the well. Entry and exit points appear as changes in the bead travel rate between detector positions.
