Plate out
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002819
Adhesion of radioactive tracer material to the casing, perforations or formation face instead of travelling with the injected fluid. Tracer that plates out keeps registering on the gamma ray detector after the fluid has moved on, so it is easily mistaken for fluid entry and distorts the injection profile. It also contaminates injection and logging equipment, which then reads radioactive on later runs.
