Beam
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000304
A structural component of a pumping unit, often called a walking beam, that transmits vertical motion to the sucker rod string. It pivots on a Sampson post, converting the rotary motion of the prime mover into the reciprocating up-and-down movement required for artificial lift. The length and design of the beam influence the stroke length of the pump.
