Rod string
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003187
A series of interconnected sucker rods extending from the surface pumping unit down to the subsurface pump in an artificially lifted oil well. This assembly transmits the reciprocating motion from the surface prime mover to the pump, lifting fluids to the surface. The design of a rod string, including rod sizes and materials, is selected based on well depth, fluid properties, and production rates.
