Counterbalance weight
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000876
A heavy mass attached to the walking beam of a beam pumping unit to offset a portion of the weight of the sucker rod string and the fluid column in the well. This reduces the power required from the prime mover and smooths the pumping action, improving efficiency and extending equipment life. The weight is adjusted based on well conditions and fluid loads.
