Counterbalance winch

A hydraulic winch on a snubbing or hydraulic workover unit, used to pick up and lay down tubing joints and light equipment at the work platform. It lets the crew handle one joint while another is being run into or pulled from the well. A dual counterbalance winch on a snubbing package is typically rated at about 1,500 pounds per winch.
