Tracer measurement
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004478
The technique of injecting a detectable substance into a fluid stream to track its movement and distribution within a reservoir or wellbore. Tracers can be radioactive isotopes, chemical compounds, or fluorescent dyes, allowing for the determination of flow paths, inter-well connectivity, and residual oil saturation. Concentrations are measured over time at production wells or specific downhole locations.
