Dispersion coefficient

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005055

A parameter that quantifies the rate at which a substance, such as a pollutant or tracer, spreads out in a fluid medium due to turbulent mixing. It represents the effective diffusivity of the substance within the atmosphere or ocean. These coefficients are used in atmospheric dispersion models to predict the downwind concentration of emissions from sources like industrial stacks.
