Surface energy balance
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009432
The accounting of all energy fluxes at the Earth's surface, including incoming and outgoing radiation, sensible heat, latent heat, and ground heat flux. This balance dictates the temperature of the surface and the lower atmosphere. It is expressed as a sum where net radiation equals the sum of sensible, latent, and ground heat fluxes.
