Energy balance

The equilibrium between incoming and outgoing energy fluxes within a system, such as the Earth's atmosphere or a specific region. For the Earth, this involves the balance between absorbed solar radiation and emitted terrestrial radiation. A positive or negative imbalance leads to warming or cooling, respectively.
