Continuing current
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004645
A sustained flow of electric charge that follows an initial lightning discharge, typically observed in cloud-to-ground lightning flashes. This current maintains the luminosity of the lightning channel for an extended period after the initial stroke. It is responsible for transferring a substantial amount of charge from the cloud to the ground.
