Peak current

The maximum instantaneous electrical current observed during a lightning discharge or other transient atmospheric electrical event. This value represents the highest flow of charge within a very short duration. For a typical cloud-to-ground lightning strike, peak currents can range from tens to hundreds of kiloamperes.
