Single-station forecasting
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008892
A method of weather prediction based on observations from a single location without reference to a broader synoptic weather map. Forecasters analyze trends in local barometric pressure, temperature, wind direction, and cloud types to infer upcoming changes in the weather. This technique relies on understanding the typical sequence of weather patterns associated with the passage of fronts and pressure systems at that specific site.
