Synoptic forecasting
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009473
The prediction of future weather conditions based on the analysis of large-scale atmospheric patterns and their evolution over time. This method relies on synoptic charts, numerical weather prediction models, and an understanding of atmospheric dynamics to project the movement and development of weather systems. It typically covers forecast periods ranging from 12 hours to several days.
