Synoptic hour

A designated time, typically occurring at regular intervals such as every three or six hours, when meteorological observations are made simultaneously across a wide network of stations. These synchronized observations provide a consistent snapshot of atmospheric conditions over a large geographical area. The primary synoptic hours are 00, 06, 12, and 18 UTC.
