Physical forecasting
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007933
The prediction of future atmospheric or oceanic conditions based on the application of physical laws and mathematical models. This method involves solving complex equations that describe the dynamics and thermodynamics of the fluid systems. Numerical weather prediction, which uses supercomputers to simulate atmospheric evolution, is a prime example of physical forecasting.
