Synoptic model

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009476

A numerical weather prediction model designed to simulate and forecast atmospheric processes on a large, synoptic scale, covering hundreds to thousands of kilometers. These models use mathematical equations to represent the physics of the atmosphere, initialized with current observational data. They provide forecasts for broad weather features like pressure systems, fronts, and large-scale precipitation, typically for periods of several days.
