Climatological observation

A measurement of an atmospheric variable, such as temperature, precipitation, or wind speed, taken at a specific location and time as part of a long-term data collection program. These observations are systematically recorded over many years to establish a historical record of climate conditions. They form the raw data used to calculate climatic averages and identify trends.
