Climatological mean field

The average spatial pattern of an atmospheric variable, such as temperature, pressure, or wind, calculated over a standard climatological period, typically 30 years. This field represents the long-term average state of the atmosphere for that variable across a geographical area. It serves as a reference point for identifying deviations and anomalies in current weather or climate.
