Climatological field

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004378

The spatial distribution of a specific atmospheric variable, such as temperature or pressure, averaged over a long period to represent the typical state of that variable in a given region. This field provides a smoothed representation of the climate, removing short-term weather fluctuations. It is often depicted on maps using isolines, like isotherms for temperature or isobars for pressure.
