Cloud cluster
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004415
A large, organized system of thunderstorms and convective clouds that maintains its identity for a day or more. These systems are a primary feature of the tropical atmosphere, appearing on satellite imagery as extensive areas of cold, high cloud tops. A cloud cluster with a sufficiently organized low-level circulation and sustained winds may be classified as a tropical depression, the first stage in tropical cyclone development.
