Dangerous semicircle
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004854
The half of a tropical cyclone, typically to the right of the storm's direction of motion in the Northern Hemisphere, where the wind speeds are highest and the seas are most severe. This region combines the storm's forward motion with its rotational winds, resulting in stronger overall winds and a greater risk to shipping. In the Southern Hemisphere, this semicircle is to the left of the storm's track.
