Driving-rain index
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005144
A quantitative measure used to assess the severity of wind-driven rain impacting vertical surfaces, particularly relevant for building design and moisture penetration. It combines wind speed and rainfall intensity to estimate the amount of rain likely to strike a wall. The index is often expressed in liter-square meters per second or similar units.
