Driven snow

Snow that has been picked up and transported by strong winds after it has already fallen and settled on the ground. This process, also known as drifting snow, often results in the formation of deep snowdrifts in sheltered areas and scoured, bare patches in exposed locations. The height to which the snow is lifted by the wind distinguishes drifting snow (below two meters) from blowing snow (above two meters).
