Drip
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005142
Water that falls from the leaves, twigs and branches of vegetation after being intercepted from precipitation or fog. Drip is part of throughfall, together with rain that passes through gaps in the canopy, and it is distinct from stemflow, which runs down the trunk. Part of the intercepted water evaporates instead of dripping, and this is counted as interception loss.
