Bare ice

Ice that is exposed directly to the atmosphere, without any insulating layer of snow or other material covering it. This condition allows for direct interaction with solar radiation and atmospheric temperatures, influencing its melt and growth rates. Bare ice surfaces are common on glaciers and ice sheets during ablation seasons.
