Bare soil

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003802

Land surface that is devoid of vegetation cover, directly exposed to the atmosphere. The absence of vegetation significantly impacts the surface energy balance, leading to higher surface temperatures and increased evaporation compared to vegetated areas. Bare soil is more susceptible to erosion by wind and water.
