Slake
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008931
To disintegrate or crumble when exposed to water, a process often observed in certain types of soil or rock. This physical breakdown is caused by the absorption of water, which reduces the cohesive forces within the material. Slaking can contribute to erosion and slope instability in areas with susceptible geological formations.
