Groundwater flow
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006108
The movement of water beneath the Earth's surface through saturated zones within soil and rock. This flow is driven by gravity and pressure differences, moving from areas of higher hydraulic head to lower hydraulic head. Groundwater flow rates are influenced by the permeability of the geological material and the hydraulic gradient, typically measured in meters per day or per year.
