Hydraulic gradient
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006308
The rate of change of hydraulic head per unit of distance in a given direction, representing the driving force for groundwater flow. It indicates the slope of the water table or potentiometric surface. A steeper hydraulic gradient implies a faster rate of groundwater movement, which influences soil moisture and evaporation processes.
