Denudation

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004924

The long-term lowering of the Earth's surface by the combined processes of weathering, erosion, mass wasting, and transport of material. While primarily a geological term, atmospheric processes such as wind erosion and precipitation contribute significantly to denudation by breaking down and moving surface materials. This process shapes landscapes over geological timescales.
