Density-weighted mean wind

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004923

A measure of the average wind velocity within a column of the atmosphere, where the contribution of wind at each level is weighted by the air density at that level. This calculation provides a more representative average of the wind's momentum flux compared to a simple arithmetic mean. It is particularly relevant in studies of atmospheric transport and dispersion, especially in boundary layer meteorology.
