Weighted average
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010199
A type of average where some data points contribute more to the final mean than others, based on assigned weights. In meteorology, this is used to combine observations from different sources or to account for varying spatial representativeness. For example, a weighted average might be used to calculate a regional temperature from irregularly spaced stations.
