Drifting dust
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005140
Fine particulate matter, primarily soil or mineral particles, lifted from the ground by wind and transported horizontally at low altitudes. This phenomenon reduces visibility and can be a precursor to a dust storm if concentrations increase significantly. It is distinct from suspended dust, which remains airborne for longer periods.
