Flood channel

A natural or artificial waterway designed to carry excess water during periods of high flow, diverting it away from vulnerable areas. These channels are engineered to increase the capacity of a river or stream system, reducing the risk of inundation. They are often constructed parallel to existing river courses or as bypasses around urban centers.
