Interplanetary dust
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006615
Microscopic particles of solid matter, typically ranging from nanometers to hundreds of micrometers in size, that exist in the space between planets within a solar system. These particles originate from comets, asteroids, and planetary collisions. When interplanetary dust enters Earth's atmosphere, it ablates and can contribute to the formation of noctilucent clouds.
