Length of record

The total time span over which meteorological data has been consistently collected for a particular variable at a specific location. This period is a primary factor in determining the reliability of climatological statistics derived from the data. For establishing a stable climate normal, the World Meteorological Organization recommends a length of record of at least 30 consecutive years.
