Local storm

A convective storm, such as a thunderstorm or a small tornado, that covers a relatively small geographical area. These storms are produced by localized atmospheric instability and are not associated with large-scale synoptic weather systems like fronts or cyclones. A Local Storm Report (LSR) is a formal record of severe, hazardous, or significant weather conditions submitted by trained spotters or officials to a National Weather Service office.
