Severe-storm observation

A report of a severe weather event, such as a tornado, large hail, or damaging winds, made by a trained spotter or the public. These real-time ground-truth reports are relayed to a National Weather Service forecast office to confirm radar signatures and inform the issuance of warnings. A report is considered severe if it includes hail of at least one inch in diameter, wind gusts of 58 mph or greater, or any tornado.
