Severe storm

A localized atmospheric disturbance characterized by intense weather phenomena that pose a threat to life and property. These storms include thunderstorms producing hail one inch or larger in diameter, winds gusting to 58 miles per hour or greater, or tornadoes. The National Weather Service issues warnings for these events to alert the public.
