Local similarity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007016
A concept used in atmospheric boundary layer meteorology where the profiles of mean wind speed, temperature, and humidity within a certain height range are assumed to be similar in shape when scaled by appropriate local surface layer parameters. This approach simplifies the analysis of turbulent transport processes near the ground. It is often applied in the surface layer where fluxes are nearly constant with height.
