Similarity theory
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008884
A theoretical framework used to describe the mean profiles of atmospheric variables within the surface layer of the atmospheric boundary layer. It posits that the non-dimensional profiles of wind speed, temperature, and humidity are universal functions of a single stability parameter. This theory is widely applied in micrometeorology for flux calculations.
