Profile similarity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008171

A quantitative measure of how closely two or more atmospheric profiles resemble each other, often assessed using statistical metrics like correlation coefficients or root mean square differences. This concept is used in evaluating the performance of atmospheric models against observations or in classifying different atmospheric states. High similarity indicates a strong resemblance in vertical structure.
