Overflow

The process where a fluid, such as water or air, exceeds the capacity of its containing boundaries and spills over. In meteorology, this can refer to air flowing over a mountain barrier when it cannot pass through a gap. It also describes the inundation of land by water when a river or lake exceeds its banks.
