Radar algorithm

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008256

A computational procedure or set of rules applied to raw radar data to extract specific meteorological information or products. These algorithms process reflectivity, velocity, and other radar moments to identify precipitation types, estimate rainfall rates, or detect severe weather features. Examples include algorithms for hail detection or tornado vortex signatures.
