Radar mile
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008270
A unit of distance used in radar applications, representing the distance light travels in one microsecond in a vacuum, which is approximately 0.0809 nautical miles or 149.89 meters. This unit is convenient for calculating range based on the time delay of radar echoes, as radar pulses travel at the speed of light. The time for a radar pulse to travel to a target and return is directly proportional to the distance in radar miles.
