Sikussak

A type of very old, thick, and highly consolidated sea ice found in the Arctic, often persisting for many years. This multi-year ice has undergone several melt and freeze cycles, making it extremely hard and resistant to breaking. Sikussak presents a considerable challenge to navigation for ships and submarines in polar regions.
