Southwester

A wind that blows from the southwest, or a gale characterized by such winds. In the mid-latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, southwesterly winds are often warm and moist, preceding the arrival of a cold front associated with a low-pressure system. These prevailing westerlies are a dominant feature of the weather and climate in regions like Western Europe and the Pacific Northwest of North America.
