Southwest Monsoon Current

A strong, eastward-flowing ocean current in the northern Indian Ocean that develops during the boreal summer monsoon season. This current is driven by the strong southwesterly monsoon winds, transporting warm surface waters across the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. It reverses direction during the northeast monsoon, becoming the Northeast Monsoon Current.
